Containers

Filed under: Uncategorized — cybrarianliz @ 1:25 pm and

I just returned from a phenomenal educational conference in Columbia, SC. Heard from some incredibly innovative educational technologists, the most profound (in my opinion) was Alan November.  He challenged those of us who have been in the educational field for decades (hard to believe I have two decades in education!) to think about  the “containers” students use for information. While I was in school, the container was paper. For today’s students, the container is technology. The challenge is how to put our content in the containers the students want to carry! Food for thought.

  1. Yes, these pesky containers. It is a challenge to learn them and then demonstrate how our old ways can be used in new ways through our kids containers. I still cannot buy into the container known by kids and so very popular—video games. Second Life is all the rage in the blogosphere, but its an alien world for me. The pro-blog looks good. Add me to your blogroll. I’ll email the other blog addresses.
